BREXIT PREDICTIONS REDUX

June 24, 2016                                  DAY AFTER REFERENDUM                                                         Pols… parroting that this is “what the people decided" .

This despite one interviewer pressing on the wisdom and constitutionality of such a small margin in a referendum determining how our elected representatives then vote in parliament.

 In the short run: 

• There will be some financial dislocation [panic?].
• I predict that the polls will indicate firmer support for Brexit & "Britain can do it" sentiment.
• Cognitive dissonance avoidance.
• Once the implications sink in, watch for significant buyer’s remorse.
• Hopefully that will be very clear before parliament votes.

The “Lords to the Rescue"?

June 27, 2016                                               PREDICTIONS

• Many Members of Parliament will vote their conscience and reject the referendum
• The Lords are unelected....
• The UK will not leave the EU
• The YOOF may now reconsider!
• Theresa May beats Bonking Boris.
• Election called before end of year.
• The four major UK  parties led by a REMAIN politician 
• The whole michigas [madness] will be reversed within a year. Looking for a bookie to take my bet.

BY 11^th October 2016                                  BREXIT UPDATE

  Cyclops derides the MAY government’s decision to trigger Article50 and to begin the fuse running for exit.

• This before defining its strategy or its objectives beyond the asinine “Brexit means Brexit”
•  Before elections in France, Germay, Italy and Holland!
• She gave away her best negotiating cards by signaling the timing of the start of formal exit and
• appearing to abandon a determination to stay in the European Single Market

  5^th November 2016             BREXIT -THE FAT LADY IS NOT SINGING                                                                                    Cyclops doubles down on his predictions:

            “..The fat lady has gone on vacation. 

                                                          King Cyclops predicts Britain will stay in the single market 

            and may not even leave the EU"

• In any event the UK will change its mind.
• Legitimise the about turn either through another referendum.
• One person, one vote, one time is truly Stalinist----this Jezza and the boys understand.
• Or through a series of parliamentary votes
• Or a crisis election.

                                    THE FAT LADY WILL NEVER SING.

In the meantime we are living through the most incompetent UK government since the Corn Laws

                               Perhaps the worst ever- --At least until the next one.
The only real question is whether the UK can abandon Brexit in time to be in the EU before it all collapses.

A Year Later 26 September 2018                    PREDICTIONS

Pretty much the same just reworded:   BREXIT 

• The fat lady will not sing.
• She will not be fooled by a Canadian /Norwegian/Swiss or Montenegrin Solution.   

                                              Brexit will NOT mean Brexit.  

        Britain Knows. 

• There will be a "Peoples Vote" in one form or another.
• That's a 2nd referendum.
• This is the only remaining road to Salvation.

Unless of course Brexiteers follow the logic of their own rhetoric :

•  Call for Parliament to decide .
•  On a free vote by each member member.
•  Each then subject to the judgment of her/his constituents.
•  A return to British Representative Democracy.
• Through the will of Parliament.

                                   Stranger things have/are happened/happening.

After this outcome of Epic Norse or Greek Proportions--the EU may then proceed to collapse under the weight of its internal contradictions.

 or the stupidity of its leaders.

       

                                      At least Jezza would be happy as he tends his allotment.
