This post is directed most directly at IFC "Members of the Regiment" but this and upcoming Part II may well be of interest to most others
ALUMNI PRIDE
ALUMNI PRIDE is a big deal in the USA.
Probably because the culture needed to replace the Feudal Loyalties shucked off by the American Rebellion of 1776.
These same lasted beyond WW1 in Europe,
Mao's China and Gandhi's India

Anyway:
Various members of The Regiment have been in touch to proudly point out that Liz Cheney—
Publican Royalty in the Great [smallest population] State of Wyoming
is an Alumna of Cyclops’s longest place of employment.
World Bank Affiliate, the International Finance Corporation.
Cyclops Graduation Class of 1999.
Cheney Graduation class of 2002 when she left to join the first Bush /Cheney administration
Cheny's official bio boldly states
" practiced law at White & Case and at the International Finance Corporation"
Cheney toiled there as a lawyer but arrived after Cyclops escaped.
- Cheney is already third most senior Publican in the US House and
- Seemed destined to become their next leader there in 2022 or 2024
- Some, including Cyclops, tipped her as a future Publican Presidential candidate
As his majesty’s readers will know,
- Cheney has broken ranks with the Trumpian lickspittles of her party.
- She has unequivocally accused the Mad Monarch
- of inciting Mayhem and Sedition.
- She bravely joined the Democrats in voting for his second impeachment.
She seems to be actually sincere in her condemnation and excoriation of Trump and the mob.
- Cyclops can see no reason to doubt her conviction.
- She has supported Trump and his agenda for the last four years.
- She voted against impeachment last time.
- She went along with most of his previous atrocities.
- She did not have to speak out now.
- She could readily have kept her head down and
- Waited opportunistically to pick up the pieces after the dust settled.
- Unlike craven chancers Cruze or Hawley
- No point in sending a fund raiser to her usual mailing list.
Instead she has said
- enough,
- no more,
- too far

There will be no future for her in the currently constituted Publican Party.
McConnel must be mystified by such lack of calculation and cynicism.
- Cyclops did not work with Cheney at the IFC but
- Has reached out to several friends who did.
- They praised her professionalism, calm and decency.
- None is surprised that she took this stand
- Although some may be surprised it took so long.
- She is young enough and brave enough to have a future in the American Republic.
- Not sure where – perhaps initially leading a rump traditional Publican Party.
- She is certainly well enough connected to that establishment
- There will be shortage of support or funding from the
- Bush,Reagan,Romney,Cheney,
- McCain, Bill Krystal machines.
- Nor from Corporate America and their
- White Shoe Law firms
- She seems destined to be the standard bearer for the pre Trumpian Publican Party
She may yet become 1st Woman President of the USA.
Cyclops will not mock her nor diminish her brave stance .
The Trumpian loonies will put a target on her back and she knew that.
The Regiment must be Proud. We will bask in her reflected Honour and Glory.
